What if... an action plan to better implement the ADA were based on the ideas of the people who work to implement the Americans with Disabilities Act in communities and businesses across the United States? The "What If Plan" is an activity of the National ADA Symposium and the result of years of working with people from across the United States who are involved in implementing the ADA in their communities. The foundation of the "What If Plan" are recommendations from prior ADA Symposium participants. We invite you to contribute to the development of the 'What If Plan" by providing further comment regarding how these recommendations can be put into action. Comments will be periodically summarized and refined until a cohesive plan emerges. Our goal is to have a working draft of an action plan by January 1, 2010. This "draft" will be distributed to federal agencies, state and local government officials, disability advocate groups, and other key partners involved in Americans with Disabilities Act implementation. This draft will continue to be refined until the 20th anniversary of the ADA and then released as a grass-roots action plan detailing the direction ADA implementation efforts should take over the next decade. |
